The National Utilities Regulatory Commission (NURC) is the regulating and licensing body for the generation of electricity from renewable sources. In keeping with this mandate, the Commission recently developed and published interconnection application procedures for the generation of electricity from solar photovoltaic sources.
As part of an ongoing sensitization drive, the NURC will be hosting a stakeholder consultation on Tuesday August 22nd, 2017 at its offices in Sans Souci (old Cable and Wireless compound). Representatives from LUCELEC, the electrical department of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ports, Energy and Labour, and suppliers of photovoltaic systems will be in attendance. This consultation aims to apprise stakeholders of:
- The details of the NURC’s application procedures;
- The electrical departments requirements and;
- LUCELEC’s interconnection requirements
This initiative is geared towards building synergies among stakeholders and promoting economic efficiency of the energy sector.
